The 1/3 to 2/3 shift: why CEOs who move first will compound the advantage

Tim Haddock · June 22, 2026 · 8 min

Most executives operate on roughly a third of what their organization knows. The reports, the dashboards, the curated updates. The other two thirds, the raw texture of how work actually happens, is invisible to them.

The CEOs who close that gap are not just better informed. They ask better questions, catch problems earlier, and make decisions with context their competitors cannot see. The advantage is not linear; it compounds, because every decision made on fuller information sets up the next one.

First movers on organizational visibility are not buying a reporting tool. They are changing what it is possible for a leader to know, and once that bar moves, it does not move back.
